I just noticed that this Emerald Physics company which makes speakers
utilizes the behringer in its design(CS3... retail 3000 bucks).
I found this in an electronic design mag from july 10, 2008 so I guess it's old news but what I find interesting is that commercial products are using them as part of the package, something which us speaker hacks stumbled on quickly...interesting
CS3
I should've noted they're using the dcx2496 on the CS2 as well...
"We're going all the way, till the wheels fall off and burn!"
Bob Dylan, from Brownsville Girl
"Time wounds all heels"
John Lennon, referring to the Nixon/Hoover deportation fiasco.
IIRC, from related reading... I think Klipsch's Jubilee falls into a similar arrangement.
Either is it sold xoverless, or with (EV Dx38 or Crown Xti ?).
The arrangement may depend on who the purchaser is (home v pro).
Point is, I do not think an OEM passive is offered for it.
I have heard the old version of the CS2 with Shindo F2a and NuForce amps (they need to be bi-amped), and they sounded pretty damned good - in a big room with lots of people. They use two Eminence 15-inch woofers and a 1-inch compression driver in a 12-inch wave guide.
In fact, hearing them started me looking at OB speakers and their various incarnations, which in a roundabout way got me looking at 604s. Since I couldn't find much Altec (or JBL or EV) gear here in NZ, I ended up going the GPA 604 route.
